Jesus, how much thermal compound did they feel they needed to use??

Thats a heat sink and fan.

And you do not remove them while operating... it will cause damage to you and your platform. Not to mention any thing in the immediate area.

It differs from the applicators, but I've seen processors with no thermal paste on them at all, and seen some with way to much on them.
