An interesting video (obviously) on the manufacture of Laserdiscs & players back in the early 1980's - from the Google Video user:

This is a 23-minute tour of RCA's SelectaVision CED VideoDisc manufacturing facility on Rockvillie Road in Indianapolis, Indiana, as well as a tour of the CED player manufacturing plant in Bloomington, Indiana. The movie dates to 1983, a time when the J line CED players like the SJT200 were the current production units.

wow. How unbelievably inefficient that whole thing was!! Each and every step of the construction was absurdly slow and required SEVERAL human operators to complete. I doubt most modern bits of electronics ever even see a human at all until the packaging!
