Police Shoot 42 Bullets Into Car. Critically Wound 2 yr. Old

"Total lack of professionalism. It really looks on the surface like a Wild West show."

I was going to do a little hyperbole, but I can't.

Total lack of professionalism, the father is correct.

This is not Afghanistan. Your bullets, your responsibility. There is no safe direction to point a projectile weapon, except down range in training.

All of the officers in question should be fired and brought up on charges of child endagerment, and criminal negligence.

They knew there were innocents in that vehicle yet there were 42 projectiles fired.

Totally unacceptable.

^ It was already a hostage situation. Her and the kids were car jacked. Jacksonville isn't some hick town. They have a swat team and snipers. They have helicopters. He was not stabbing her in the car, he was trying to escape. They could have tracked him and then tried to deal with it with proper support. EVERYONE OPEN FIRE INTO THE CAR is not a solution. The fact that the kid is only critically wounded instead of dead is just a matter of luck.

So what are you guys suggesting? Let the robber drive off? Then you are just asking for a hostage situation, suicide-homicide, or fatal crash. Yes, it was reckless, but an armed man on the loose with nothing to lose is a pretty bad situation as well.

...one must always choose the lesser of two weevils.
