This guy handled it the complete wrong way. He should have called the cops FIRST and then gone up to "purchase" the bike taking his sweet time chatting to the dude until the cops showed up.

He got too emotional and nervous and just let the cat right out the bag. Craig and his girlfriend would have been easily arrested.

I especially love that he just bailed and left his girlfriend behind. Classy.

Biker owner said it himself. "Try to think of a plan and not be emotional about it" He fell victim to his own emotions when he let the cat out of the bag. Seams reasonable when you have your adrenaline pumping; normal human nature in action. Not unless he is a pro at confronting thieves could he possibly keep his cool and composure.

I had doubts as to whether he was the thief, but to admit, on camera that you were willing to knowingly buy a stolen bike because you read that it was okay... COME ON!

Not sure if the cops in the US would do this, but in the UK you can pop into the local station and tell them what is happening and they will send a plain clothes cop with you for the sting.

It works much better as the cop will ask the right questions (dates, times etc...) to the seller to help implicate him.
