Evan Tanner was an MMA fighter with a final professional record of 32-8. He was a one-time UFC Middleweight champ, the first American to win the Pancrase tournament, and the USWF Heavyweight champ with 7 title defenses.

Evan Tanner was known for his humility, his compassion, and his humanitarianism.

Evan Tanner was found dead on Sept 8, 2008. He had become stranded in the desert outside Palo Verde, CA during a camping trip when his dirtbike ran out of gas. He ran out of water and succumbed to the heat.

How do you not plan how much gas you're going to need? I refuse to watch this movie that will possibly contain the answer...someone must tell me the answer and THEN I'll watch the movie.

Perhaps he underestimated the situation. edit: Then again, maybe not. Above quote was 11 days after he wrote the following:

"I plan on going so deep into the desert, that any failure of my equipment, could cost me my life. I've been doing a great deal of research and study. I want to know all I can about where I'm going, and I want to make sure I have the best equipment."

So he's a willing idiot. There's people that go way further than him and are fine because they PLAN BETTER. He deserved to die.
