Meg McLain Addresses TSA's Release of Video Evidence of Her

In the controversy surrounding the TSA intimidating Free Keene blogger Meg McLain and removing her from the Ft. Lauderdale airport, someone's lying, and we know who has a history of lying: The TSA. Yesterday they released some security footage (Video 1, Video 2) of the security area where Meg had her encounter with the TSA agents. The release of the footage was an attempt to make Meg look like she was telling lies, but the evidence points to TSA being the liars. What kind of security footage doesn't have a timecode? There is no way to tell what happened between the two videos, and the TSA would obviously like us to believe they are contiguous. Regardless, the footage raises many questions about what Meg claimed in our interview with her on Free Talk Live, of which the YouTube video has received about half-a-million hits in a day's time. Was she actually handcuffed? Did they rip up the ticket? Is the TSA showing us all the footage? These questions and more were asked and answered on 11/11′s Free Talk Live in the third hour. Thanks to Meg for taking an hour out of her busy schedule to talk with us again to clarify what really happened.

And here's her original radio broadcast that started this controversy.

Here's Meg back when she auctioned a part of her body...<SNIP> Adorable free market chicks.

She is apparently doing another tat sale. If anyone with a wicked sense of humor hears about this, I foresee her getting an Obama O tat on her wrist, for the rest of her life, in exchange for a months rent.

In case you are one of the people who think this girl is ful of shit, this guys attempt at flying AA from San Diego sounds AWFULLY familiar.

And it gets worse, he is escorted from the area out of the airport, then stopped by an offical who

"quote..He informed me that I could not leave the airport. He said that once I start the screening in the secure area, I could not leave until it was completed. Having left the area, he stated, I would be subject to a civil suit and a $10,000 fine. I asked him if he was also going to fine the 6 TSA agents and the local police officer who escorted me from the secure area. After all, I did exactly what I was told. He said that they didn't know the rules, and that he would deal with them later. They would not be subject to civil penalties. I then pointed to Mr. Silva and asked if he would be subject to any penalties. He is the agents' supervisor, and he directed them to escort me out. The man informed me that Mr. Silva was new and he would not be subject to penalties, either. ..."

read this guys blog post.

and fuck you TSA.

So, I have not watched it yet, BUT this is still JUST Meg backing up what she had already said, correct? She is only clarifying things from HER side right? She is not providing anything concrete?

I am not trying to poop on her, and I am not a fan of the TSA, but as far as we know it is still he-said/she-said (with the TSA providing SOME cctv action),

I actually do think she is full of shit. Just because TSA is worse-than-useless security theater, does not mean that she did not concoct an incident much worse than the one that took place. Since she seems to be milking the publicity, and actual video contradicts at least part of her story, I'm inclined to draw the conclusion that she has, through sheer force of ideological will, re-remembered the merely stupid, as absolute evil.

The folks who do good work to undermine the TSAs stupidity are the ones who game/break the system, and then report on how easy it is to get through with just about anything you want. Almost anything can be rationalized if it's effective, and that's the track most often taken to defend the TSA, undermining that premise is much more useful, and honest, than this publicity stunt.

It seems that even if some of the events she described actually happened that we couldn't see due to the camera angle, her over-sensationalizing or outright lies about the events we could see absolutely wreck her credibility.

Hey,
Yes, I understand fully where you are coming from, this is still her recounting her story, and the only thing that annoys me re: the videos are the lack of a time stamp, I think there is the possibility of a gap between where these two videos go.

And yes, there are serious problems with the airport security in general. I do agree, that the premise of this story is only her side, my posting that guys blog link, was to show another example of this kind of arbitary "security"

If she has fabricated alot of this, it won't help undermine the TSA, in fact will do the reverse.

So point taken. The "if you think she's full of shit" comment was more directed at the complete fictional possibility of what happened. (not so much an assumption that this story is 100% true)

still some left to play out I think on this one...
