archchefsays...Meh, Seems like a very biased video. Been using Windows MCE for some time and love it. All the fancy "turn on your tv and dim your lights" can be done with windows MCE if you know how to set it up. If you ask me I liked when society was a bunch of luddites and computers werent cool. That was my hayday. Now these out of the box user friendly do everything shoe box dell pices of crap make baby jesus cry.
I loath user friendly because it allows the non geek into my life style.
gluoniumsays...ahh linux. eighty billion submenued features of excrutiating specificity that you will never use.
Deanosays...Looks cool. I'm not really that into watching tv that such a system would be truly useful but it is impressive particularly integration with mobile phones.
The problem with Windows Media Centre is that they never really allowed it out in a form that could be easily installed. Also I think you had to jump through a few hoops to get it.
And once you do have it, does the interface really rock? I like the Linux stuff alot more. Fact is Microsoft are rubbish at designing interfaces - I used Vista last week and it's a mess of dialogues and unintuitive buttons.
aidossays...Upvoting for making the Apple TV interface look slick
winkler1says...Wow!.. I love XBMC but this looks worth checking out. This UI looks interesting.. especially with the AirMouse. Very cool. And Ubuntu is a great user-friendly distro.
Includes Asterisk?! Holy crap. The app->Bluetooth phone is really slick.
k8_fansays...Looks pretty good, but I've had a few too many experiences having to configure Linux systems by editing text files. On the other hand, virtually none of my existing home theater equipment - my HD card, my NTSC tuner/S-Video input card - are "Windows MCE compatible". Hopefully, this uses the dScaler software, which does a far, far better job of scaling low resolution source. Hey, I might as well put it on...it's not like it costs anything.

benimarusays...I think this kind of thing only hurts Linux's PR. This guy is biased in the most obnoxious and condescending way.
I'd love to use Linux - I've installed Ubuntu and Beryl... but this kind of attitude is not doing the effort any favors.
archchefsays...Meh, wanted to give this a shot on my new server... After 5 hours of trying to get Ubuntu to be able to actually detect the right video card.. trying every single Nvidia driver on earth... I give up, I am sticking to Windows MCE.
