sort of thing the simpsons/ south park or snl might tackle

reminded me of Talledega Nights quote :

I like to think of Jesus as wearin' a Tuxedo T-Shirt, that says, like, "I want to be formal, but I like to party too." I like to party, so I like my Jesus to party too

Normally I'd non-vote this, but I upvoted just to spite the people that voted against it. I'm all for downvoting things if they are genuinely offensive... which I don't think that was. It was just a little bit of comedy (albeit not very funny) and Jesus isn't a little glass doll that breaks when someone makes light of the situation a bit.

Thanks phoenix

Offensiveness wouldn't be enough reason for me to downvote, though. It has to not be any good. So, even music videos in which I can't stand the music won't get down voted arbitrarily (unless the music flat out blows), and I may even up vote if the visual content is especially good.

(Downvoting as a means of) Censorship is a Bad Idea(tm), IMHO.

Upvote for the Indiana Jones reference!

I think this simply serves to satirise the Christian branding that already goes on in all the evangelical churches - books/tapes/hotlines... why not action figures?

/queue cheesy voice over: "It teaches kids about the Gospel in an entertaining way!"

Religion We all *need* to be able to take a joke (atheists/agnostics too!)

It's not about uptight over picking on religion, it's like any topic that's sensitive generally. Religion and war are examples. It's not that it crossed a line, it's just difficult to make fun and it be generally appealingly funny.

Life of Brian (Monty Python) is an example where they made fun of christianity and it was brilliant.
