That didn't really explain what the technique was, at least not clearly to my mind.

You take a route you know well, like the route from your home to your workplace and give it memorable moments, ie: "the bear saws through a pineapple at the bus-stop outside my house" and you have the 3 first cards just by thinking of the bus-stop , then as you look at your neighbours house, "the king waves his left hand" 3 more cards. and so on.
