Craig brings up many questions that we've all had. i think that he and all others who have died or are dying due to complications deserve answers to this poignant questions.

The American goverment would like us to believe that 9/11 was a result of massive inter-agency intelligence failure regarding the threat of a terrorist attack on US soil. The American goverment would also like for you to believe that despite the given massive intelligence failure, the entire cause and nature of the attack was worked out in a mere 72 hours of investigation. Primarily because of one key piece of evidence that implicated everyone else in the plot.

* Who benefited from the suspiciously high numbers of put options purchased prior to September 11 for shares in companies whose stock prices subsequently plummeted, on the supposition that whoever was behind the hijacking was also behind most of the purchases of these put options? And what was the role of the new executive director of the CIA, Buzzy Krongard, who handled these transactions?

* Why was the debris from the collapsed Twin Towers removed from the site with no forensic examination? Why was almost all of it sold to scrap merchants and shipped abroad where it would not be available for scientific examination?

* Why does the government refuse to release any transcripts of communications or any records at all relating to signals of any form transmitted by those jets?

Um sorry Farhad2k the most incompetent administration ever is who you credit with a complicated conspiracy not very likely.

He has some interesting points, certainly, but this wasn't a brilliant interview. The interviewer doesn't really probe Bartmer assertions, rather just agrees with him (almost short of putting words in his mouth at times).

The fact that not even anything has been leaked regarding the installation of demolition charges in the WTC, just makes me discount the whole 'controlled collapse' theory. Be they blueprints, executive orders, memos or whatever, show me anything that gives evidence for such a claim - but don't try to tout a theory as being irrefutable. Something the 911 'Truth' guys like to do.

These failings of the authorities to properly investigate the wreckage is concerning, but this does not therefore conclude that something dodgy went on behind the scenes. There is definitely a story we're not hearing, so lets push for investigations (like Bartmer says) rather than trying to prove negatives.

I do believe that now, because there is a lot of credible information to support that. See the comments from Richard Clarke in 'Against All Enemies' for example. Someone who was actually there for the last three administrations.

I admit that I was a sucker for the sell for the Iraq war initially - I didn't so much care that they didn't find the WMD's but that Saddam was removed. I figured if they didn't get the WMD's, it doesn't matter so bad cause they're going to liberate the country primarily. To learn that their reasons were alternate was very hard going. I'm not closed minded to the realities, so long as they're supportable with more than just conjecture.

But I accept that this was a plan they'd had for a long time because THAT makes sense. Moreso than accepting that they'd actually fire a missile into the Pentagon or hide the passengers from Flight 93 for the rest of their lives (assuming that no word of this would ever escape). I mean c'mon... Where's your internal bullshit detectors, guys?

I'm a fan of the Patriot Act.

Most people who are rational would buy into the Patriot Act because of what it represents on paper.

Not realizing how far such schemes can be abused in the state, a lesson to be learnt from people who lived under the NKVD, then the KGB, and now the FSB.

And laws are just paper so it is pretty good paper at that level of' analysis.

It is an excellent tool to catch narcotics (illegal and prescription drug) traffickers. Even roving wiretaps are a pretty cool and wonderful thing unless you are a drug cartel or have run afoul of Karl Rove/Dick Cheney in some way.

The main problem right now with USA Patriot is that Bush keeps creating all of these 'secretive' organizations within the Department of Defense and Department of Justice and abuses the provisions of the Act by walling off any oversight mechanisms. Not to mention the fact that Bush routinely sidesteps legal obligations through his signing statements. Traditional Soviet statism at its worst.

There is no accountability, any suggestions of oversight are ruled as being against national security, well then if that is the concerned people should listen to this...

When dealing with laws that grant more powers to gigantic intelligence gather services like the NSA we should frankly be worried if no oversight is given. The Bush administration is clearly ineffective in dealing with the threat, our response in Afghanistan was good but not far reaching enough, Iraq was a mistake and so on and so forth.
