Since that guy lives in San Diego I guess LA is technically north of him. Just not quite as far as Canada, for whom this commercial is targeted.

The rink there is Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, Ca. It's the official training center of the Kings, which is why they are all over the posters in the background.
