choggiesays...Looks stuck in the window crack for a while....
pipp3355says...ha! didn't think of that myself. reminds me of another vid i saw sifted recently. think it might have made it into the top 15 actually. basically involved a crow-like bird following some guy around a park.
gargoylesays...From the wispy tufts of feathers sticking out on its head, it seems to be a young 'un.
Chaucersays...yea. it's a young bird.
moonsammysays...Son of a... this really does belong under "Did that just happen?" - while watching it I thought 'that reminds me of the character YT, from Snow Crash.' Then I saw that the comment under the video was from someone named YT. Huh. In Snow Crash (book by Neil Stephenson, excellent cyberpunk w/ a main character named Hiro Protagonist), YT is a young skateboarder chick who routinely hitches rides on cars by use of a magnetic grapple-thing. In the video a young bird (might be female, I'm not that good with avian identification) hitches a ride on a car. No magnetics involved as far as I can tell, which is probably for the best. I don't know that humanity would handle a species of magnet-footed birds well.
Anyway, I go to check the book to make sure I had the character's name right and think 'if it is YT, what the hell did that stand for?' Then I open directly to the one page where it says what YT means. My plan was to skim the first page I saw just to check for the character's name. I happened, in a 480-page book, to not only open directly to the right page randomly, but I also started my skimming right on the paragraph where her name is explained.
As I walked back to my computer, I thought 'damn, this should be in "Did that just happen?"' Then I checked, and it was.
Laekrothsays...Brilliant!
CalamityKatesays...lol at moonsammy's long strange trip, but the YT in the description stands for YouTube. :-)
pipp3355says...shhhhhh clamitykate! that was some serious synchronicity going on there - maybe things really do happen for a reason afterall!
MINKsays...moonsammy, you are overreacting to pure coincidence, obviously.
by the way, the speed of air flowing across a surface (like a car window) decreases towards the surface. At the surface, the speed is nearly zero. so it's easier to cling to the window than to stick your arm out. plus, a bird is obviously very aerodynamic, meaning the air isn't obstructed much by the bird, meaning it isn't being pushed off very much.
but anyway, nice clip, i am just being boring.
