Lollapalooza described their sound as, "...clappy, clangy and jangly." I say they sound like Maroon 5, if Maroon 5 got sent back to New York during the height of No Wave and got the crap kicked out of them a few times until they started producing good music.

It's not No Wave, mind you, but there's some interesting discord along with the hooks. I like.

good hooks, just as you say. the first song off the CD is pretty great also, but i think i originally was compelled to purchase the album because of 'hospital beds.'

dunno whether that's on the sift, i'll check after i finish this

edit: hard to say which video i preferred, this or maudlin's. anyways, here's a link to another great track from cold war kids that sounds a little bit different.
