this is a great movie. I totally recommend it.

Curious thing... I'm portuguese, and I'm sure you're all aware, Brazil and Portugal share the language, with some territorial differences like the US and England. Even though the whole movie is obviously brazilian, and therefore totally spoken in portuguese, the "ghetto" scenes are so full of slang, I had to watch it with subtitles.

Yeah I liked this movie a lot. I was on edge the whole time watching because you didn't know who was going to get killed next. There's a documentary on gangs in El Salvador called "La Vida Loca", watch it if you can find it. The director was murdered not long afterward, outside San Salvador.

Saw this movie on DVD recently - there is also a very interesting "making of" special feature that comes with it.

That last sequence of lil'dice's silloute executing all his victims will always stay with me. Brilliant stuff.
