Battle of the Planets (G-force) Intro

Battle of the Planets (1978) is the first Westernized adaptation of the 1972 Japanese animated television series known as Kagaku ninja tai Gatchaman. Of the 105 original Gatchaman episodes, 85 were used in the Battle of the Planets adaptation, produced by Sandy Frank Entertainment. The adaptation is generally faithful to the plot and character development of the original Gatchaman series, but significant additions and reductions were made in order to increase appeal to the North American juvenile television market of the late 1970s.(wikipedia)

Huh. Yeah, I think I remember seeing it back then. It'll probably get discarded this time too. How did you find it? I searched and it has almost exactly the same title.

What is funny, is my good friend loaned me the DVD and it has the original Japanese episodes with English subtitles. They did change some things at times. In the first episode there was a scientist killed and his daughter was give the option to launch missiles at the machine/robot that killed him. Here were the basic gist of the lines spoken by the leader Mark when she refused to fire:

English version: Good choice because revenge doesn't solve anything.

Japanese version: Weakling! You have shamed your father and your family!
