Artist Yoshitoshi sketches on the iPad - Manga

In the video above, artist Yoshitoshi Abe uses LiveSketch HD [$0.99] to sketch one of his characters named Ain. Yoshitoshi's normal medium is pencil and paper, but you can see that the detail he achieves in the sketch on the iPad is almost in parity with his pencil sketches.

What's even more impressive is that he does the sketch in under four minutes and uses only one hand. As you can see in the video, his other hand is busy holding his iPhone 3GS, which he is using to record his creation. Ah, when talent and technology meet.

he moves his finger in one direction and lines going in a different direction show up, multiple lines appear after one stroke, and the type of line changes for no reason. he's got another video with close up footage of it and it's totally fake. they're really nice drawings though.

watch this one for when he starts to “draw” the eyes.

Moving this video to nock's personal queue. It failed to receive enough votes to get sifted up to the front page within 2 days.

there is a delay because it takes longer for the program to draw than it takes for him to move his finger but it is real. The video compression also changes how things look (blurry to sharp). He uses his nail for sharper lines and wider finger touches to get softer wider strokes. Use the program yourself and you will see why it looks a bit strange.
