Cheers!

Impressive but just seems like an incremental improvement on the Wii. With Kinect they're doing something more ambitious, and of course more prone to glitches and bugs. This has controllers and I do like the idea of doing away with them for certain games.
And couldn't some of these tech demos be done in Kinect anyway? It just needs to track your hands...

Odd video embed by the way, no controls or running time info.

Goldeneye 007 for the Wii - E3 2010

braindonut says...

I'ma ramble like and old person for a bit...

Console gamers LOVED Goldeneye. It was Halo before Halo was around. I remember the jocks at my highschool having a Goldeneye tournament at a local coffee shop and I went, thinking "how quaint, they want to play video games." I pumped myself up, got all ready to play and when I finally got to play (this was my first time ever playing) it was extraordinarily disappointing. It was a shortbus FPS...

But, that's what makes FPS games on consoles fun. I got my ass handed to me in that tournament, just like I would proceed to get my ass handed to me in halo games and CoD games and every other FPS on the console. At the time I had retreated into a smug state of "Those console gamers, they don't know what a real FPS is." But now I realize the err of my ways..

Console FPS games are fun, BECAUSE people are forced to play like handicapped monkeys with rifles. Sometimes it can actually be more fun when everyone is hobbled like that. I've gotten used to it and can appreciate that style of FPS gameplay. I still go back to PC gaming (mouse + keyboard) and absolutely love that as well - but the shortbus FPS style does make for a lot of fun.

That being said, I have no plans on buying this game, or starting to use my Wii again.

Ubisoft are only a publisher, their streak of shit continues just fine.

Q Entertainment are the talent. The motion-type controls are optional, the game will be playable with a regular controller. It's planned for release on 360 and PS3...the Wii I think would melt trying to cope.>> ^EDD:

First original game by Ubi that I've seen in years. Hope it's not utter crap like the vast majority of their product. I'll give it an upvote for the fancy visuals and aural treats, but I remain skeptical of the mo-cap. I guess this is planned for the Wii, Kinect or Sony's Move, right?

I, too, loved Goldeneye but didn't understand it being touted as "revolutionary" and game changing. This looks like it might be pretty fun to play.

With that said, I wish Nintendo would re-release Tetrisphere for the Wii virtual console. That game was an absolute blast, and was truly the next evolution of Tetris in every sense of the word. And I didn't even care for the first Tetris that much.

I guess I can continue keeping my fingers crossed.

I upvote, because, hey, my only console is a Wii, and this looks pretty good.

And I knoooow that the original Goldeneye is indeed regarded as a seminal first person shooter. But really, those of us on PCs at the time were baffled by its popularity. I tried playing it at the time and had the problems I still have today with console shooters (other than Wii)... control accuracy. Trying to play an FPS with an analogue stick kills me (literally, I die a lot)... can't handle it.

Now, with a Wii Remote, or the PS Move or Kinect, maybe, but analogue stick... blurgh. The amount of auto aiming that games have to have in them for consoles is ridiculous.

Playstation 4 - Leaked Launch Trailer [FAKE]

Shepppard says...

I highly doubt this is real..or in context.

"In testing" could mean we're still years away from getting it anyway.

However.. They still have too much potential locked away in the PS3, nothing has really pushed its limits yet.

I am also, however, eagerly awaiting the sony press conference at E3, move is the only thing that looks reasonably marketable (a Wii HD market will net a lot of gamers who are fed up with the mostly T and below rated games), there has been the talk of 3d coming to ps3, and last but not least, a while back Tetsuya Nomura stated that Final Fantasy VII fans should be happy with E3 this year.

He has since followed up by saying "FFVII main character Cloud Strife creator Tetsuya Nomura is the one doing the talking this time. In a recent Famitsu interview, the powerful Square Enix producer said the following of FFVII and the Cloud character: "Fans are looking forward to an oft rumored remake of FFVII, but I don't believe this will happen for the time being. However, it's possible that he [Cloud] will appear in other titles as a guest character."

In my opinion, sony is going to "Win" at this years E3.

Revoke BP's Corporate Charter

dystopianfuturetoday says...

OK, champ, you've convinced me. Let's put this slogan, er... concept into action. But, before we get started, I do have a couple of nagging questions that I'd like you and your exceedingly thoughtful brain to answer.

1) How do we get everyone to stop buying sweatshop products?

2) How does throwing away a paid-for Nintendo Wii impact Foxcomm in the slightest?

3) Why do greedy and abusive entities like Wal*Mart, Monsanto and Foxcomm seem to thrive in a wallet democracy? Is that what the people want?

4) There don't seem to be any examples of wallet democracy making the world a better place. Why is this? Is the liberal media covering it up?

5) Aren't there less abstract ways of stopping corporations from hurting people? Regulation perhaps? Revoking of corporate charters and whatnot?

6) Were the underpants gnomes involved in creating this concept somehow?

Thanks in advance for what is sure to be a brilliant, witty and thoroughly satisfying response.

Foxconn makes products for both Apple and Microsoft, so people who want to vote against Foxconn with their wallets don't get to use computers or the internet.

Wow. Ok first of all Foxconn manufactures hardware, so you'd still be ok to use Windows if you so choose. You wouldn't have to, since Ubuntu is a great alternative and as its userbase grows so will its usability. Damn, you can even install OSX on a non-Apple PC if that's worth the trouble for you. Let's start with your private use and not get into how you're forced to use certain things to earn a living just yet.
Second, you talk about food and medicine and how you could buy neither. There are always viable alternatives for these fundamental needs, but why not start small? If you want to boycott Foxconn you can't have any of the current generation gaming consoles. No Wii, PS3 or X360. If you own them already make a point by throwing them out. If you're willing to take that step, we can further discuss the more elemental human needs such as medicine and food, but my bet is that it's not gonna happen, because your attachment to some plastic piece of entartainment far outweights your bullshit rage at Foxconn that you spew. You're probably too confortable with the level of wealth and consumerism you live in, which is the real reason why "vote with your wallet" won't work.

To each his own. Good luck with your ineffective political ideology.
