Real Time 4/10/09 - Bill Maher Talks to Gore Vidal
fornicate with me gore vidal
My literary taste brings all the boys to the yard. (Geek Talk Post)
Tao Te Ching - Lao Tzu
The Hobbit - J. R. R. Tolkien
Dune - Frank Herbert
Gödel, Escher, Bach - Douglas Hofstadter
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich - Alexander Solzhenitsyn
Galapagos - Kurt Vonnegut
Live from Golgotha - Gore Vidal
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - Ken Kesey
Siddhartha - Herman Hesse
Catch-22 - Joseph Heller
Those are 10 off the top of my head, in no particular order. Some I consider favorites, others made a strong enough impression that they always come to mind when someone asks a question like this.
Pornstar Belladonna is interviewed by Diane Sawyer
The man she was engaged to and you see in the clip, Nacho Vidal, is one sadistic motherfucker.
What Are Your Top 5 Books? (Books Talk Post)
I don't know if you meant to confine this to novels or not, but I'm going wider:
Tao Te Ching - Lao Tzu
Dune (whole series) - Frank Herbert
Live from Golgotha - Gore Vidal
Macbeth - William Shakespeare
Cryptonomicon - Neal Stephenson
I'm actually in the middle of Cryptonomicon right now, but I'm already confident it belongs in that list. 5 is too short, anyway:
Catch-22 - Joseph Heller
Galápagos - Kurt Vonnegut
The Hobbit & LotR - J. R. R. Tolkien
The Name of the Rose - Umberto Eco
Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury
There's probably a couple dozen I've forgotten at the moment, and there's a lot of other fantasy novels I really enjoyed, like Roger Zelazny's "Chronicles of Amber". But that's a good start.
Paul Hunt: Comedy Gymnast
For some reason, I feel the need to go buy some Vidal Sassoon.
Gore Vidal on Current Affairs
Vidal's pretty damn sharp.
I think he's just getting too old and kind of fed up with answering the same questions over and over again.

Yay! It's in the top 15! One more shot in the arm *promote
Woot! Thank you! Straight from probie to number 1!
Thank you for the support and the warm welcome. I was disappointed to learn Corey Vidal did not do the singing himself, but I still loved the video.
And now I can post without a stupid "P" next to my name.

It was actually made by the A Capella Comedy group Moosebutter, found here. The guy you see, Corey Vidal, is just lip-syncing, but with the complete blessing of Moosebutter - they like the attention it gives them and it's in line with the kind of comedy they do.
Nevertheless, it's awesome. John Williams is awesome! I mean, upvote!
Ah, I saw that Corey Vidal thanked them for their help, but assumed that Corey still did the recording. Oh well, I still loved it! But I will update the original description.

Trailer for "The Onion Movie"
Looks cool, but is this for real? This is the Onion after all. According to the interwebs, there was going to be a movie, then that was canceled or something,
and baby jesus took over the white house with nothing but a chainsaw and a couple propane tanks while Captain Dan & the Scurvy Crew were singing authentic pirate hip-hop in the background and Elzar brought out his spice weasel and was all like "Let's knock this scene up a notch. BAM!" as he squeezed the spice weasel into Gore Vidal's crème brûlée, which was still on fire becauseWikipedia said this: "In November 2007, President Sean Mills told Wikinews that the movie is a dead project. Although the studio Fox Searchlight has an option to release it on DVD, there are currently no plans to do so. Everyone involved in the project from the writers, to the directors to the studios, decided the material simply was not working. However the trailer appears on the DVD for The Darjeeling Limited. Because of the trailer's recent appearance on the DVD for the Darjeeling Limited, there is some speculation that the movie will be released on DVD later in 2008."William Buckley Calls Gore Vidal a Queer
Gore Vidal, another pathetic liberal America-hater.
What are you reading? (Books Talk Post)
There was another thread on this a while back. Lots of good stuff in that one.
I just started reading Creation by Gore Vidal. The only other Vidal novel I've read is Live from Golgotha, which is an absolute riot.
Best last year? Third reread of the Dune series. It's almost ruined science fiction for me because it's so damn good.
Eyes Wide Shut teaser
Aww, does that mean Caligula is off the table? I was ready to flood the queue with all the distasteful bits.
Keeeding... but interested parties should hunt this down for a laugh:
