Better to use the *isdupe or *dupeof command in that situation. (The dupeof command always works on your own vids and doesn't require an isdupe confirmation, but it doesn't work the other way around, i.e., if yours is the original... hope that makes sense.) And both work even after a video has been discarded or killed.
