Mechwarrior 5? I better get back to finishing 2.. old game saves

Wow.. you "anti-sims" guys really have smug anti-social problems with people who like the sims. Hey, I play the game too, but damn, just because I don't like certain games doesn't mean "I stand quite apart" as Raaagh so eloquently put it.

Hey, guess what, since that's not you it obviously hasn't crossed your mind others might have legitimate reasons for liking this game. Christ, if you don't like it great, and the review was funny... and strikingly true from a 35 year old game reviewers point of view...

problem is, people, there are still KIDS who play games... and there are still games for kids.

Rancor pit: One child is a rancor and is trying to catch and eat the others. If the rancor catches someone, they become the new rancor. The only difference from the classic old game is that the rancor has to make rancor noises.

around 2:59 and on is the "new unofficial" vid. Everything prior was in the old game. Still love booting that game up every now and then

The best part is this isn't all that different from a lot of those old games.

What BS! Blaming the shorts is an old game... they are the only ones with the brains to take the air out of an overinflated system. Blame the bonus culture and moral hazard of CDO's, not the shorts.

Apparently over 11 million people pay that monthly fee, and the latest expansion sold (a record breaking) 2.8 million copies during the first 24 hours of launch. Love it or hate it, doesnt really matter, World of Warcraft will still go down as the defining game of this generation.


And yet it's such a shame to better games that it was just a fluke of circumstance, imo. It was made to be very accessible with scatter gun tactics.. attract as many mmo fans as you can by putting as many elements of mmo games as possible into it, whether it worked correctly or not.

Though i hate to do it, i have to admit lich king was excellently done, at least from a solo-questing/storyline standpoint. I got some of the best storylines and emotional feeling from it since baldur's gate and that's saying a lot. However if we forget lich king for a minute and pretend it isn't out yet, 50% of the wow community would probably tell you that the game isn't particularly good, enjoyable, well done, and 75% would almost certainly tell you that blizzard treat the community like groupies to be shat on at will and they feel that they're cheated with the price they pay against the service they recieve. Still pay it though.

I think most of the popularity of the game came about because it was released at the right time. A time which will never happen again. The internet became huge. People will tell you the internet became huge before that, but it didn't become REALLY huge. 5-10 years before that a lot of people had the internet but if you played games on it as a schoolkid, at school you were still a nerd. Nowadays even the cool people at school do it. (god that sounds crap, but it's the best way to get my point across)

I'll tell you i thought everquest was the be-all and end-all of mmo's - but perhaps it's because i was really young when i played it and i was more susceptible to mystery and fantasy.

To summarize, i'm amazed the game became as big as it did, because it really isn't good enough, isn't maintained well enough, etc. etc. I'm sure someone will argue this point with me, but they won't be able to argue that half the people playing it think all this, and that's really the point - half the people playing it (11 million? at £9.99/$xx.xx per month) don't think it's good enough. (again, all pre-expansion, it's too early to speak averages otherwise)

And furthermore obviously i haven't spoken to 5.5 million wow players, i've spoken to/heard from thousands and thousands whilst playing and at least half were of this opinion.

In the former times, prior to black roast of no humour, there was a selection process suitably geeky for VS. + noone else had a suggestion/volunteered.

So i rustled up my old game dice, and rolled a few D20/D100 as relivent to the no. of applicants, and said no.s picked out the MC and roastee from the list of "IN"s given by DD.

This was a random and impartial roll, and the only changes to the selections came when the initial choices declined.


Soooo if we have a new roast, do people want to resume the old method? (in which case, i'll continue to abstain from participating to remain impartial) or shall we find a knew way? I know my rolls did get called into question when a certain couple ended up in the hot seat and couldnt take the heat...

Well they got #1 right. Strider was the only reason I asked my step brother to bring his Genesis over when he came to play my Nintendo. Sonic 3 was alright, but only shined when you got Sonic & Knuckles, and plugged it in. Now that was awesome, a game that you plugged your old game into to add new stuff. Other than that golden axe and vector man are the only two worth playing. Well, they were back then. By the way what's sega up to these days...?

That song in the background reminds me of this old game I used to play when I was a little kid: Sid & Al's Incredible Toons

Mink, Farhad... I agree with the computer games. I gave my 9 year old boy my old desktop. He dug up my old games; Pharaoh, Age of Empires, Sim City etc.. and went to town with them. He especially enjoyed AOE. He's learned quite a bit from them.
