First time the Zapruder film was shown to the public

bamdrew says...

Senator Arlen Specter was on Charlie Rose's show (PBS) last night, and a quick question at the end was about his role in the Warren commission championing the single bullet theory. I had no idea that a still acting senator had such a pivotal role in the still contested aftermath of this event.

As a further aside, there was an Australian show I saw once which did an excellent job of examining how a single bullet could have traveled how it was said to, and replicated the shot with gel dummies positioned exactly how the President and the Governor were sitting before the shot(the rear seats were elevated, a fact I had never known), even using the same style gun and ammo Harvey was found with, from the same distance, etc. It was pretty convincing. The head wound with ballistic gel dummy, if I recall correctly, did rock forward with the hit and then backwards in recoil, but it wasn't so much discussed.

Damien Hirst - Diamond Embedded Skull

critttter says...

According to Damien Hirst on the Charlie Rose show, this is owned by the artist and a syndicate that includes the folks who fronted the diamonds. There's talk of it being valued at 100 million dollars or so, with 12 million dollars worth of diamonds. Maybe that's true. This is important because this is the world we live in. I think the financing is part of the art.

Great! I wanted to post this a year ago, but back then you had to pay a dollar to stream it on google video.

I'll change it now. Thank you

I dont necessarily agree with everything he says, but I find him more interesting than say, Dawkins.

Hope you enjoy the sift.

EDIT: The sound seems to be out of synch. I am looking for a replacement but is not significant enough to affect your viewing experience and what he has to say.

Bill Moyers interviews Keith Olbermann

Nebosuke says...

Spectacular interview. Bill Moyer and Charlie Rose do the best interviews. Insightful questions and an actual interview where they listen to the guest.

As to the content of this interview, I just have trouble thinking of the future. IF we make to the next president (that is IF Bush leaves office), there is no possible way that Bush or his cabinet will get any retribution for what they have done to the country. So disappointing.

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

I suppose you're right Spoco2 - the comparison is probably unfair. In the US you could compare this to a Charlie Rose interview.

I like Andrew Denton too. I enjoyed his interview with the Waifs a few weeks ago. [off to search for it]
