Reagan v. Obama

2009 Amnesty Bill: Another Steaming Piece of Sh*t

Ask the same question over at Daily Kos and Huff Post. More perfect terms speed along the message in today's ADD environment. For example, by using "Taxocrat" instead of "Democrat" I don't have to explain every time that the Democratic solution for all problems is to raise taxes.

If I gave a shit about Kos or Huff Post I would. I don't, though. I asked you because your voice, your opposition, is needed here and you undercut all your own arguments by talking like a 4th grader. Acting like a child because some of your opposition acts like children doesn't change the fact that you're acting like a child.

It's not the flavor you're upset with, it's that I'm serving you something that's not on the menu. Unlike your unionized teachers, kollij proffs, goofball gangstaz, hollywood and enter-stainers like Colbertowitz, I have nothing to gain by lying to you about life and consequences, and as I like to point out from time to time, if you can present facts that prove liberal policies do anything but make life harder for a much wider swath of the population than they claim to help, I'm all ears.

I don't believe I've ever accused you of lying; I'm certainly not now. It's not the flavor or the dish that I'm upset with or I'd have said so. My "approval rating" around here may fluctuate but I don't think anyone could seriously accuse me of not saying what I mean. Unions, schools/colleges/universities, gangsters and Hollywood have nothing to do with my questions. You're making my point for me with your misdirection attempt. The Democrats could literally turn into the Communist party you like to claim they are right now and it wouldn't validate your inability to formulate a mature argument.

Dobbs--not a favorite of liberals, a proponent of lawful borders and therefore a "racist"--isn't making stuff up here like some Olbermann, he's reading off an actual proposed bill. That's what's truly frightening.

I mean to actually take a look at the bill when I have the time. As is typical with any "news reporter", Dobbs doesn't actually quote anything from the bill, he just tells us what he (or the Heritage Foundation) wants us to believe it says. He may be telling the truth, but I'd be surprised. If the bill really said any of these things, why not just read/show us the text?

I don't want the opinions of any reporter; I'll form my own when I see the bill. This is why I don't watch the news.

Congressman Yells "Liar" At Obama During Health Care Speech

Winstonfield_Pennypacker says...

UPDATE

Well well - now we see both why Wilson wants to call Obama a liar and why Obama thinks he isn't lying...

http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/sep/18/obama-ties-immigration-to-health-care-battle/?feat=home_cube_position1

Yeah - Obama knows his plan will cover people who are CURRENTLY illegal aliens - but he isn't a liar because he's just going to give them all amnesty and make them citizens. :eyeroll: What a douche.

Obama is a liar in the truest sense of political speech... Great article on his general slipperiness. Obama hides his intentions behind half truths, rhetoric, and technicalities. To quote Obama, "He's a jackass."

Where to now, VideoSift? (Sift Talk Post)

NetRunner says...

I like the idea of advertising and fundraising for causes a lot. Though I think if you want it to be non-partisan you're going to have to limit it to fund raising for charities. If it's a "cause" like the American Civil Liberties Union, National Rifle Association, Organizing for America, Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, Greenpeace, or Focus on the Family that does political work, it's going to be "partisan" to somebody. I'd wager even EFF and Amnesty International will seem partisan to somebody.

Maybe just make a clear separation between charities, and non-profit political organizations, and let them coexist in separate areas, so people can be clear about what they're signing on for.

I'd also like a form of "news article sift", to try and get some crowd sourcing at work on elevating reports and opinion pieces with some quality.

14 yr old girl Tasered in the Head by Police Chief

JiggaJonson says...

I contend that we need to seriously reconsider the use of tasers by our police force. They should be used under the guidelines that a lethal weapon would; the taser would be a last resort and the lethal weapon would be THE last resort.

Right now, based on a seeming spike in incidents, police are using them on a whim. I think their intention is not to injure anyone (their chief concern is not injuring themselves) but people who get tasered are sometimes injured fatally:

"As of March 7 [2007], Amnesty International lists 220 people who have died since June of 2001 in the United States after Tasers were used on them, said Mona Cadena, San Francisco deputy director for the western region of that organization."
from: http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2007/04/01/news/top_stories/23_36_183_31_07.txt

I'm sure, besides death, other injuries occur (I have a huge fear i'll face plant and break off my front teeth if i'm ever tasered - unlikely but probably as unlikely as a 14 year old getting it in the brain) So why do police seem to use tasers with increasing regularity?

Dumpling Girl Freakout

grinter says...

The family used to be a windowless dungeon. People would treat you like shit, and there was no one to keep them in check, and no reference as to how people really should treat one another.
Now there's camera phones and youtube... and if your big sister is a lunatic and an ogre, the world will know.

youtube is like amnesty international for the family -- it's harder to be a dick when the world is watching.

EU parliament members expense allowance abuse

kulpims says...

EU administration is a joke. they made Siim Kallas, who "lost" 10M $ while he was president of Bank of Estonia, a commissioner for audit and anti-fraud

and Jacques Barrot, EU Justice Commissioner, certainly has a lot of experience of France’s criminal justice system, since he was convicted of fraud and theft of over 2M €. his sins were automatically erased in 1995, when Chirac granted him presidential amnesty

lots of other examples, too. I recommend you visit this site: http://www.snouts-in-the-trough.com

Somalia: Libertarian Paradise

quantumushroom says...

Conservatives equate anything that doesn't agree with their fascist worldview with communism (or socialism), like if you support expanding a government program that has been proven a success, you must secretly be for genocide or something.

I'm for limited government (the non-magical kind that can't be everything to everyone) but even among Constitutionally-authorized government programs, let me know when you find one that works as it was supposed to and is efficient and fiscally accountable...

Your second response is pretty much the embodiment of why your favorite party is on the outs; you are so viciously hostile towards people who don't share every last facet of your worldview, you drive away people who might've been otherwise inclined to agree with some aspect of your philosophy.

The reason why Republicans are 'on the outs' (for now) is because this sorry-assed gang in DC are not conservatives. It's that simple. Drunk on their own power, they're trying to be like taxocrats, a deadly mistake because no Republican can outspend a taxocrat and shouldn't try.

Taxocrats are victims of what is called "bad becoming normal". The debate is no longer about how much money should be pissed away on Amtrak or Head Start each year, but stopping Obamarx and Friends from literally mutating the national DNA to suit their warped vision. Seriously, buying car companies, floating sht banks? The dickheads at the Fed, which should be abolished along with Fannie and Fartie? Get real. You may love everything Obama is doing, but rest assured, he doesn't care a whit whether you approve or not. Obama works for Obama.

Bush and his goddamned No Child, Medicare expansion, amnesty, etc. If Obama did all those things (and he is, only on steroids) he'd be praised by his media sycophants. Bush supposedly fcked up a lot of things he also gave the 'Crats most of what they wanted each fiscal year. And THAT'S why he's a failure.

Conservatism doesn't fail, it only gets overrun by parasites (both in DC and government housing) living off the working class the left pretends to love. If the left really gave a poop about the bourgeoisie, they'd let them keep more of the money they earn instead of trying to give all of fking Mexico "free" health care to buy votes.

I'm not waiting for socialists to agree with any or all of my philosophy: it's not worth sacrificing core principles for acceptance along the narrow, flimsy band between communism and capitalism.

I say again, Lefty, enjoy your hollow victory. For now, you've won. Libertarianism? Statistically speaking, no one's even heard of it.

The evidence that Big Guvmint socialism will fail and is failing is now all around you. Me. Us. They'll be no Bush to hide in this time.

Waterboarding IS Torture -- Amnesty International

Edeot says...

Well, your prose is concrete and straightforward, but I've never been much for free verse. More of a haiku guy, really.

>> ^enoch:
a very unsubtle way to make a very powerful point.
sometimes it has to be done.
i don't think its neither wise nor morally sound,
to continue with the naive notion of victimless war.
bloodless wars dont exist.
waterboarding=torture....and,it does not work.
the pain and suffering is real,
and for what?
false confessions?
its evil, and i shall have no part in it.
a powerful and profound clip.
thank you.
