I don't think it's just a financial consideration. Flash is a pig on OS X. I've yet to run a verssion that doesn't (eventually) chew up all the memory it can gobble.>> ^RedSky:
If it does end up supporting Flash, it will be because of mounting pressure. Apple has made it clear they have no interest in allowing people to eschew their apps business model on the iPhone/Touch through custom made content they have neither control nor any financial claim over. No reason they would change their mind here unless they were compelled by dwindling sales or an outcry.

Rep. Alan Grayson Chews Up Citigroup CEO

Of course they don't sell to the public. We haven't contributed enough bribes campaign donations to get their attention.

Honestly, I think we're way beyond that. If Citi failed, the chaos that would ensue is already risk on the public balance sheet. It's called systematic risk.

Now I do appreciate that Grayson is trying to follow the money. I think it ought to be public information what lies on public balance sheets.

So this is the fed audit?

More like a share holders conference I guess...

Tiny Mouse Gets Tail Stuck In Honey

I used to like mice. But then one moved into my garage and shit all over all my stuff. He managed to chew up and shit on everything in every box. Now I hate those little pricks.

This mouse though, was pretty cute. I love the loony tunes running in place.

The Bystander Effect: Genovese Syndrome

^You're not far off chogg, the effects he speaks of stem from our tree swinging days and our aversion to help another being chewed up by the Saber-Toothed Leopard.

Although, if I had been in those apartments, I certainly would have thrown great handfuls of my shit at the attacker.

Heard any good jokes lately? (Possibly NSFW) (Comedy Talk Post)

3 dogs are in adjacent cages at the veterinarian. The dogs start discussing their situations. One dog offers, "Man, I really blew it. I chewed up the brand new couch and my owners said it was the last straw, so they brought me here to be put down. What about you guys?"
The next dog says, "I bit the mailman for the last time. My owners said they couldn't risk it anymore, so they brought me here to be put down."
"Bummer," says the first dog. "yeah, I know," replies the second.
They both look at the third dog, "what about you, what's your story?"
"Well, my master's wife likes to do housework in the nude. This morning she was scrubbing the kitchen floor on her hands and knees when I came thru the kitchen door. I looked at her and couldn't help myself. I just ran over there and started humping her like crazy."
"Oh my," exclaimed the first 2 dogs, "I can understand why she would want to put you down for that."
"Oh, I'm not here to be put down, she dropped me off to get my nails trimmed."

Evolution meets Religion (Science Talk Post)

so, throwing in my two cent piece... Gorgon tosses in a good point here

"Wither or not God made the earth is six days or six billion years is, and most likely will remain a matter of speculation. I think it will continue to remain a matter of speculation."

There is no agreed-upon way to prove which answer is the truth, but there is one way to figure out which answer is more likely; gather mountains of evidence, each telling part of the story, each from different disciplines and using different methods, and see if we end up with an answer that jives with the mountain.

Now you can still 'prove' simple, specific things with experiments ("a whipped-cream bottle in a microwave will explode"). But for people to believe you're idea about bigger questions, questions dealing with things we can't physically sense, it can be pretty tedious stuff. I'm in brain science, and I'll tell you straight-up that we're still working on the mountains for some very basic questions.

As a final note, the coolest thing about science is that one or two convincing and repeatable experiments can shift understandings in what the mountain of previous evidence was hinting at. I remember recently reading that muscle don't actually get sore from lactic acid build-up, but instead from muscle cells opening pores to release a chemical that literally chews up at muscle structure, and does this on purpose. I know! WTF! A couple of folks in a lab figured this out and some other people tried their experiment and got the same results and now we gotta change all the books!
