Congratulations! Your comment has just received enough votes from the community to earn you 1 Power Point. Thank you for your quality contribution to VideoSift.
No probs. And I find it to be utterly ridiculous, the whole thing. As I said, your reply to that post was all it should have elicited and it could have been done and dusted... but now it's this huge thing that leaves a sour taste in many of our mouths.
Which is not to say I condone the language and 'threats' aimed at you by UP at all, it was vile and seemingly quite uncalled for. I don't get why some people feel the need to be that disgusting (bt themselves are to blame there for what they've thrown UP's way since). I disagree with you on many points, but I don't think we've ever attacked each other personally (have I? I don't think I have... I hope not :-/ ).
Anyway, I think the person that comes off worst in all of this is burdturgler really.

*sigh* Not again.
I appreciate you letting me know. I had no idea this was going on.

Hey thepinky... we've had some fiery discussions in the past
Just wanted to say that burdturgler decided to make your arguing with UsesProzac a site wide discussion point and got outraged on your behalf.
I saw your reply to UP and think that you've handled things with far more composer and maturity than bt ever did, and YOU were the one having the comments directed at YOU rather than bt being some 3rd party being outraged all on their own.
So, yeah... more power to you for being a level headed arguer.
Now... I have to think of something to have an argument with you about again .

This. "I'm sorry your life is depressing." If you weren't so passive agressive, maybe... Just maybe.
In reply to this comment by thepinky:
I'm sorry your life is depressing. I'm getting myself through college paycheck to paycheck and I'm not depressed at all. I don't have a loan, I'm not receiving financial help from the government, I work hard, and I have $14 in my bank account. Sure, I can't afford grapes, but I'm perfectly happy. Low income, paycheck-to-paycheck lifestyles can be tough, but it is delusional and condescending to think that we're all depressed. This is how people live.
I would be grateful for a job at Wal-Mart right about now, actually. There are no jobs left in this town.
>> ^UsesProzac:
It's extremely depressing to live paycheck to paycheck. And I'm always hungry!
Most of the time we don't make it to the next paycheck before we run out of money. Food is so expensive. [Fuck Walmart, though. That place is so dirty and their concept of a sale, one or two cents cheaper, baffles me. Yeah, baby, you can find me at Aldi's!]
Can I just do this for a second:
Peace
And while we obviously can't all get along, I would ask that both of you cut it out and don't decimate this community.
I hope you aren't implying I would do drugs while pregnant. Just because your mother did doesn't mean I would.
There, amended. I fixed it, just for you. Don't be blatantly obtuse. It makes you look fat.
This past President's Day could only have gotten better if you were really raped.
Boobs. Right in your face, jiggling. Offending. Delicious. [But not quite as delicious as a newly aborted fetus, fresh from the oven.]
Here is a recipe I recommend. Just add a little cheese and broil until browned. Savory and nutritious. Har har.
Sometimes I wonder if you have as much trouble with reading and comprehension as LittleRed. You two should be study buddies.

The second letter in Mormon is silent? Mrmon? I don't get it. Cats talking? Find solace in the respite of an environment? Boobs? I'm sorry, but that message didn't make any sense. That's okay. You're normally very clever, so I'm sure you were just tired or high or something when you wrote it. I hope you had a good President's Day!
In reply to this comment by UsesProzac:
A cat once told me that the second letter in Mormon is silent, but we've been over that before. Why don't you go find solace in the respite of a porn-free environment, far from the internet, lest you fall into its clutches. Boobs.

Wow! How do you know so much about Mormons? You must be really smart. TTYL

You know, I really prefer this new thepinky, though I have to wonder--what with the strictures of Mormon faith when it comes to alcohol, caffeine and underwear--what the stance is on lying through your teeth.

That's dumb. You're so silly! You're my silly friend. I love it when my silly friends send me funny messages on the computer. LOL

You are walking through a clearing in the forest overlooking a steep cliff, when you notice a rope tied to a tree that appears to be fraying. You look below the tree and notice a backpack resting against the tree. Suddenly it snaps, and the rope flies off the edge of the cliff. For whatever reason, you instantly grab the rope with both hands and stop the end from completely going over. You can feel a heavy weight at the other end. There are no nearby objects on which to tie the rope off, and if you let go it will continue over the edge of the cliff. What should you do?
Does anything change if:
1. you heard a person scream when the rope snapped
2. you heard nothing when the rope snapped
3. you didn't willingly grab the rope, it flew out and tangled around your foot
If you choose to continue holding the rope, several days have passed and nobody has come across the path. What should you do?
Does anything change if:
3. you are extremely fatigued, and your grip is fading
4. you are hungry, dehydrated, but your grip is strong
5. you feel okay, and your grip is strong, but many more days have passed
6. it starts raining, and you begin to slide towards the edge of the cliff
If you choose to continue holding the rope, a person comes frantically running up to help, but trips over a rock and falls off the side of the cliff. They catch themselves with one hand, but are quickly starting to slip. They are too far to reach while holding the rope. What should you do?
Does anything change if:
7. the person is a close friend or family member
8. the person is a complete stranger
Every day that I'm pregnant with this child, I contemplate how I can protect it from dangerous, stupid people like you.

I don't know how your feel about profile comments so I'm sorry if this offends.
Why do I have to make a point to have a discussion? Can't I ask a simple question without pissing people off around here?
I have never failed to speak up in a Mormon thread that I came across, but I don't go around looking for them. I don't spend enough time on the Sift to do that. Which threads are you talking about and why are they tricky?
I don't see how this was evangelizing at all. That really was not my intention. Even when I am honestly trying to have a nice quiet philosophical discussion and promote some thought and improve my own mind, you get all uppity about it.
Could you just leave me alone? Become a silent downvoter like UsesProzac if you don't like something that I say instead of clouding up my discussion thread with insults.
In reply to this comment by MINK:
thepinky, if you want a discussion you actually have to make a point.
you would be surprised how "discussy" i can be if you actually said something and backed it up.
my problem with you is that you never turn up in the mormon threads that are a little bit tricky, and you hide behind "discussion" when really you want to evangelise.
that's cool, gradually you are learning that you don't know anything. that's the first step on the path to wisdom.
