When you create an account you are a probationary member. You have a big red P by your name. After you have sifted your first video, it has gotten 10 votes and gotten out of your PQ (Personal Queue) you lose your P and become a standard member. You can see here and here what it takes to "level up".

thanks for the heads-up! at first I had "An inside look inside Google" but then I decided that I had 'inside' one too many times so I deleted the first one and forgot about the 'An'. But now, all is well. thanks again.
