Ahahah cool!

Well, obviously I still love videosift, both for its content, its users, and also because it is a live demonstration that open voting (as opposed to secret voting) may work very well, if designed properly
Nope, no bot here.
Of course people remember you! You're one of our few long-time veterans who still shows up, thank goodness.

Thanks, man! It's nice to see a few people still remembers me after years have passed...

Unless you used a bot
In that case, well played sir!

*This* is the problem.
There is no difference between normal and extra points, but there should be.
If I receive an extra point when I have 0, I actually get an useless point because it would have been automatically refreshed anyway.
If I receive an extra point when I have 1, I have the possibility to do things I couldn't do otherwise.
IMHO it makes no sense.
In reply to this comment by lucky760:
I think the confusion is that you are separating the points into two different categories: "normal" and "extra."
There is not difference. A point is a point is a point. You just have a collection of points and when you use points, that collection is reduced by the appropriate number.
As far as using 2-point powers, it's a matter of timing. If you already have 1 point, an extra point will give you 2. If you have 0 points, an extra point will give you 1.

mmmm...
ok now I understand, thank you, but... in the FAQs I can't find if it says in what situations you gain power points (other than buying them).
I take it in my profile it says I never used power points because that is about the standard power points, while I only used two extras?
EDIT: I think that using extra points before standard ones is not very nice.
Think about what happened here for example.
I had 3 points, 1 normal 2 extra.
I called an invocation worth 2 points, and it used up my 2 extra points.
If I called the invocation before gaining the third point, I take it would have used 1 extra point and 1 standard point, yes?
So when I would have got the third point I could have called another 2 points invocation, again spending 1 extra point and 1 standard (when the standard one came back).
It doesn't make much sense (though I suppose it's much easier coded this way).

Ha, no worries.
Yes, the maximum is the number of points that get refilled after two days, but there is no limit to how many you can actually possess (i.e., from buying or earning points).

great to see a Sift veteran like you go 100! you were one of the most likable and noticeable users around the time I joined! And boy, the Gold100 club is looking more attractive each day - you're making me kinda glad I'm so far from getting a diamond!
Cheers, Ed

Oooh lol I totally got lost.
If my maximum is 1, it means there is a way to earn temporary points that go above maximum?
In reply to this comment by lucky760:
Hmm...
So, how many points did your profile show before you successfully self-promoted?
It requires 2 and your profile currently shows 1, and your normal maximum is 1. This means you probably earned 2 extra points from siftbot (see his comments below) and those are what got used for the self-promote. And now that you only have 1 PP, you can't do it again.
In reply to this comment by looris:
a little bug: i have made a self promote here and it worked.
but in my user page it still says i never used any power point.
still, it correctly doesn't allow me to promote again.

sure, but this does not necessarly mean it's just a rumor.
anyway you're right, it should cite a trustable source, I'll mark it
In reply to this comment by doogle:
Darn - that source a) doesn't cite where they got that number and b) doesn't indicate if those 18 deaths from the past 5 years are due to the RCMP.
