Thanks Matthu. It has been a rough year. Sorry for all your losses.

Give someone a hug for me.

Donno how old you guys are, I'm 26 and people have been dropping like fucking flies lately. It sucks.

Luckily we'll all make it to the singularity and be able to live forever on the Internet!!

Be strong bare and keep your loved ones close.

Just stumbled on this. I'm sorry for your losses and my heart breaks for your uncle.
In reply to this comment by bareboards2:
By the way, my Aunt Gene died on Friday. It's a blessing, really.
Now I worry about her husband. They had the heartache of burying all three of their childen -- my cousin Gaylan, age 57, died in his sleep last fall. And now my uncle has buried his wife. He does have grandkids, but he hasn't lived alone in over 50 years. I don't think he'll be with us by Christmas. He has a bad heart, and this is just too much, you know?
A generation is leaving us. My family has been lucky to keep so many for so long -- but now they are going, and going quick. We've lost five in the last two years. Plus Gaylan.
My dad is still here. In good shape mentally. He likes where he is, a VA Center in Oklahoma. It has a fishing pond out back. He is in charge of the fishing tackle closet, keeps everything in good order. When one of the guys has trouble with his reel, he goes to my dad. When some of the simple medical equipment jams, he fixes it for the nurses. He's 87. Amazing.

Ah, well, it's kinda all good. I haven't lost anyone I'm close with yet. Just grandparents, uncles, friends' parents and grandparents. I just don't like that people die lol. Guess I'm a baby that way.

>> ^gwiz665:

My condolences, mate.

no, I understand. I just found the comment odd since it was un-prompted. As for "fighting the good fight" it's hypocritical to say that people shouldn't force their religious opinions on others, but then turn around and do exactly that online. If you make a quick tally of religious preaching related to this video:

Me telling you what to believe: 0
You telling me what to believe: 1

The argument that people preach atheism on here to combat people preaching religion in their daily lives is hypocritical because if you want people in your life to stop doing it, tell THEM. Don't come online and make overarching rude comments to everyone thinking it's going to make a difference. All it does is irritate people that were minding their own business to begin with.

(I don't mean you personally, I'm just talking about that particular argument)

In reply to this comment by Matthu:
Uh you did get that my post was sarcastic and I was trying to stick up for honkytonk, right?

Anyhow, I just felt like you were picking on him unnecessarily. After having religion shoved down everyone's throats for the past 2000 years, now that we know better, I think it's perfectly valid to bring up the issue in a wide variety of forums.

Mighta been a little out of place, but fuck it, he's fightin' the good fight.

settle down man, I don't even find anything particularly offensive in his post... It was just totally random that he seemed to be responding to something that was never said.

in response to some of the rest of your message, anonymity on the internet isn't a reasonable excuse to be an asshole and his comment reeked of "troll fishin'". There are some good sift talks on the topic if you're interested in some thoughtful discussion (with a fair amount of name calling mixed in as usual

suddenly: anti-theism
I don't see any previous comments that would have prompted your inane "response"

We obviously must thank Jesus/God that it didn't impale the driver. Because Jesus/God certainly has a magical hand in the prevention, not instigation of accidents.

Seriously. What a fucking asshole. Spreading his secular propaganda around here when clearly no one asked for it. What kind of a person would show up somewhere uninvited and preach religious truths. On top of it, this is a friggin' INTERNET FORUM. Blatantly inappropriate.

This is fucking serious business. I mean, goddamn man, you should know better. If you're going to spread the truth as you see it, do it right. Show up at a 3rd world village in Africa and tell them if they take measures to bring the HIV rate down from 25% their babies will be born without genitalia.

I wonder now my comment on your comment was unworthy, as it seems your message might of been in jest... Let it be known, I figured what you said to be proper, but when you mention sifters "could" be ashamed, well then I start to think nay... NAYYYYYYYYY.

Haha... yup. Still got it.

-trolling is a art.

Happy anniversary! Today marks year number 1 since you first became a Sifter and the community is better for having you. Thanks for your contributions!

chicchorea says...

Right,... wrong.

Ten votes moves it up.

Your good to vote.

In reply to this comment by Matthu:
Well, I figured if a video gets a vote, it gets bumped up and as other videos get votes they get bumped ahead of your video. So I figured if I saved my vote for peak hours, it'd get more views.

But that might not be how it works at all lol.

In reply to this comment by chicchorea:
Please, how would more people see your submission resultant to your abstention?

In reply to this comment by Matthu:
Hi, thanks for the advice. I was thinking I'd wait closer to morning to vote so more people would see the video? Is that not a viable tactic?
