the occupy wall street movement will fail-here is why

i dont necessarily agree with all his points but he does bring up some salient criticisms.
criticalthudsays...

fairly right on with a lot of points.
OWS did a poor job when it came to grooming their image, and because most of the mass of humanity decides things with an emotional mind, rather than a rational one, their impact was and is severely lessened.
as long as the media can portray the movement as unorganized, no-message, drum-circle-playing, weed smoking, self-entitled hippies, it's not going to happen to the extent we want it to.

Propaganda is all about leaving people with a perception, and this perception, for most people, will outweigh any sort of rational thought.
I'm not saying it's fair that how you look outweighs what you say, but that is the reality of the situation. This is why half of america nods stupidly at everything said by a good looking but vapid pundit on fox news. They look like they know what they are talking about, so it is perceived that way.

At the same time, political strategy for attacking wall street and washington needs to be re-vamped. OWS has focused on facts, figures, and logical arguments. But if you want to get a grumpy mom and pop on your side, you'd do better by showing them just how WELL the one percent parties.

prob better to change the title here - to..."what OWS could do better".
