Farhad2000says...Was he at any time part of Pharcyde?
michiesays...http://www.myspace.com/fatlipmusic
yeah.
spike directed and shot this personal, homemade feeling video, and went on to create a similarly-named documentary based on his conversations with the LA rapper. Jonze had known Fatlip since he photographed the Pharcyde in 1992 and of course worked with him on Drop.
“I knew I was going to ask him a lot of questions,” says Jonze. “I was doing the video on my little one-chip camera anyway and I had a really decent mic so I could shoot sound. So I figured going in to it, if there’s enough interesting footage, I’d cut it together into a short documentary. The idea was just to go over to his house every day and come up with ideas and then go out and shoot them. It was, just trying to make something out of nothing, a sort of homemade thing. His personality is strong – he's so funny by himself and the lyrics are so heartfelt and funny.”

metal_falsettosays...Not only is this song (and video) great, but the entire "mini documentary" that accompanies it is priceless — you can get the whole shebang (as well as a crapload of Spike Jonze other fan-fucking-tastic videos) on the DVD "The Work of Director Spike Jonze."
