ACEsays...ouch!!
James Roesays...I can't believe it man, such a solid game by france, and then that shit in the second over time...
bamdrewsays...nice turnaround on this post. ... and as a slovenly american, I thought this was pretty awesome.
a good match. sucks that it went to a shootout.

EntertainmentMajorsays...He deserved it. He is one of the dirtiest players on the national team of Italy. I counted at least three fouls that were yellow card quality. Zidane was tired since he had been playing since the opening minute, the team was dragging, and it needed a boost. Signore M. just pushed Zidane too far. I wished he had taken a swing instead of a head butt. Still, Zidane is the one laughing. He got the award for best player in the World Cup.

madcapssays...Though I supported Italy, I have to admit that France didn't deserve to go out like this. Yup, I didn't think it was very sportsmanlike for Materazzi to provoke Zidane. The only thing Zidane did wrong was that his headbutt should have landed in Materazzi's face.
That would have levelled things up a bit...
conansays...whatever materazzi did, zidane´s behaviour was extremly unprofessional. it doesn´t matter what materazzi said, because knocking one down just for what he said is wrong, especially if you´re the idol of thousands (millions?) of kids and while you´re watched by more than one BILLION people worldwide...
and yes, the shootout sucked. france dominated the game, they were by far the better team. just my two cents
tedbatersays...Wow I hate soccer.
Rest of the world, you can have it.
madcapssays...conan,
I do not disagree that what Zidane did was unprofessional, but I also believe that everyone has their limits. Apparently, Materazzi called him a "dirty terrorist" and in in times like these, such slurs can really be very touchy. :-\
Kruposays...I was going to encourage you all to play the game:

EntertainmentMajorsays...If I was from Algeria, where the French are already snotty towards me anyway despite me being a premier football player, I would do more than a simple head charge at Signore M. if he called me the son of a terrorist whore.
swampgirlsays...why do soccer pros exagerate injuries? I see it all the time, they get a kick in the leg or something and they fall and roll around like children. I don't buy their diva behavior
Moosemansays...Its all over the papers in England, every pro lip-reader is trying to work out what the Italian played said. Its agreed that he must've insulted Zindanes family with a very racist remark, something to do with his Nigerian background.
Good shot btw, right for the heart area
