Farhad2000says...Great post
swampgirlsays...Thanks, she's obviously been enjoying the benefits of Dr. Miles Nervine.
choggiesays...Hah! Cab Calloway wrote this tune....My Fav is, and I can't find it on vidddy-'A Blue Serge Suit With A Belt In The Back-
.
He isn't hep to jive, he's only half alive, hep-cats call him square;
You won't believe this Jack but all his clothes date back to 29' I swear!
He wears a Blue Serge suit with a belt in the back, no drake, no shake, just a belt in the back;
He's strictly corn, man, and he's off the cob, wears a pocket watch with a pearly fob;
He'd look just as sharp in a sack, than in that blue serge suit with a belt in the back!
He isn't old or grey, yet he's so passe, swing bands make him frown; he doesn't get his kicks, from boogie-woogie licks, he's dead but he won't lay down-chorus
no-flair no where, just a belt in the back;
He thinks a cat is a household pet, and his favorite dance is the minuet;
Must've come from some curio rack, and bought a Blue Serge suit, with a belt in the baaaaaaak!

Issykittysays...Ms. Lane Truesdale is on vocals and shimmy in this 1943 "soundie," an early video jukebox format. The title comes from a running joke on radio based on the name of violinist Yehudi Menuhin. This is now in the public domain.
Careful viewers will notice the video is reversed right-to-left, as the original format required a mirror for projection.

onionradishsays...The catchphrase "Who's Yehoodi?" popular in the 1930s and 1940s was inspired by Menuhin's guest appearance on a radio show, where Jerry Colonna turned "Yehoodi" into a widely recognized slang term for a mysteriously absent person. It eventually lost all of its original connection with Menuhin.

Wow, and here I thought it was the precursor to Yahoo.
