blankfistsays...They may agree to call off the war, but we'll still have a military presence there. We'll pull out of Iraq and move our troops to Afghanistan, Pakistan and ultimately Iran.
Farhad2000says...Reminds of Bush on the carrier proclaiming "Mission Accomplished"
NetRunnersays...^ I disagree, they dumped it in the news on a Friday between the Olympics and the Democratic National Convention, with the expectation of Obama unveiling his VP choice today.
They aren't trumpeting this, they're hoping no one hears about it.
Farhad2000says...^ I meant that they are posting a timetable that won't be realistically kept in reality. Just like the announcement that the war was over.
Lurchsays...^ Not necessarily. They have been leading up to this for a few months. Violence is down, the Iraqi army is mostly trained, and their government has met almost all of the milestones that were set.

Scary part is, obama is talking about Iran and "going in" as well
Doh!
honkeytonk73says...You are being distracted... a time table has -not- been set. Think people.. the elections are coming up. You are being fed and you are eating it up. Put simply, the UN resolution granting the US rights to remain in Iraq to maintain stability is expiring in less than a year. Rather than go through the UN again, the US is forcing the Iraqi government to create their own resolution, allowing US troops to be present through ~2011. This is NOT BINDING. This does NOT guarantee a withdrawal. This does NOT MEAN that US presence will end in 2011. Read the fine print and stop letting corporate media, and the government propaganda feed you. The Neocons (and McCain) WANT to stay in Iraq, as they achieved their goals. This is an oil grab, and the US has grasp on it now. They won't let it go, no matter who you vote for.
