I was a little girl when he got his medals. I found out I was going to get a baby sister or brother by reading the LA times (literally).

The part of the video that means the most to me is the part where my dad put the medal around my mom's neck. That was a big deal at the time. Every Olympic official in the world was trying to get him to go a certain way and not deviate from the plan, and he just ignored everything and leaned over that ditch, which was way more intimidating than that picture makes it look, and hung that medal around my mom's neck. It's the most important part of the story, according to family history.

I did not go to Japan (I was 7), but that was when I developed my life-long fascination with asia. I've been to Japan, and loved it, and soon I go to China. I wish I could have gone with my dad.

That is awesomely inspiring. I like the way he looks at 2:38. If he told me to go to bed I'd have my jammies on in a flash. And a climber? Some spirit. The emperor apparently could see it too. That's some beautiful family history.
