SMB2/DokiDokiPanic is not entirely unrelated to the franchise as this video (and others) would lead you to believe. I'll let you find out why on your own.

Didn't realize the CD Rom thing happened in 1989...thought that happened during the period when Nintendo was looking into the Super NES's successor, many years later.

Mario Bros. (not Super) was definitely an arcade game in the US, I remember playing it at the QuickStop.
