The disgusting truth behind cat&dogs fur/meat business.

NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH - This video shows the harsh reality of the cat & dog meat and fur business. You will get sickened by this and you will say "It was still alive?!?!".

I tried for several minutes to justify NOT downvoting this vid... and I failed. I understand its message. I don't agree it's presentation, namely the mixing of the 'pets' and 'slaughter' footage back and forth. Trying to guilt trip much?

darkrowansays...

MG: No, I wouldn't call it 'strenghthen'. The intermixing feels more like a sucker punch, cheap shots taken at emotion of pet owners. It's an appeal to fear saying "Look what might happen to YOUR pet."

Again, calling on presentation only. Message is clear, if a bit marketed.

I don't think that there was anything wrong in the videos presentation. It delivered a clear and powerful message. Now i have 2 dogs myself, and not once did i think of them during this video. I don't think you have to have pets to be disturbed by this.

I'm not in opposition of eating cats/dogs or using their fur. I just personally wouldn't do it, nor do i advocate it. But its not my place to tell other cultures what they can an can't do. Indians think cows are sacred, ancient Egyptians thought cats were, modern Arabs forbid the eating of pork meats. Allot of cultures have different views, so whose to say ours is right? That being said:

I' personally own 2 leather jackets and a plethora of suede combats boots etc, and eat tons of cow product. But i do so in confidence in the fact those cows were (for a lack of a better word) slaughtered in a humane way. So to skin and eat cats and dogs in other cultures is fine with me, so long as its done in a humane way. So to present this video in such a fashion is ok, as it shows people with views such as our own that these animals are treated in a fashion as such. Its a reminder to not support the industry, so if you travel to an area that is known to trade in furs, just be careful with what you buy.

The thing is, this is NOT being done in a humane way (this is in China, JAPR, by the way). The animals are thrown on the ground, even brutally tossed around in their cages, tortured and SKINNED ALIVE for their fur. They are overcrowded into small cages, defacating on themselves, oftentimes crammed into these cages with multiple animals. Those animals are held by their legs and thrown against the ground until they are dead. Let me assume that all of you out there would agree that this is fucking INHUMANE to the NTH DEGREE. They also believe that if an animal dies in agonizing pain, the meat will be more flavorful!!!??? I'm not saying that all the Chinese agree with this, and nor am I saying that gross animal abuses do not take place everywhere else in the world, but I'm just trying to illustrate what is taking place in this video. I'm sorry that I know all this, and I could NOT watch the video. I tried to, twice, and I literally started crying. It is just too upsetting for me and so inhumane, and I have watched it before (a lot of those clips are in other videos, but without the frolicking pets). I do think that the presentation had something to do with it, though not in the same way that was stated by darkrowan.

I know that is the point of this post - to illustrate the horrific treatment of these living creatures- but something stops me from voting this up. Maybe the music coupled with the shots of the horrific carnage/ cute pets gave it a flippant tone for me that I couldn't stomach? I don't know. I will not downvote this, but I just can't vote this up. Sorry. I'm going to go hug my Issy now...

Your right Issykitty, that is sick and twisted. Honestly i did not know that animals were still being treated like this. It would be nice to think that modern day government would not allow something like this.

I figured it was China from the lettering on a truck. This shocks and saddens me. I have no problem with killing and using animals how you see fit if you're not torturing them, but I definitely consider skinning an animal alive torture, and seeing them crammed into those bags and cages is worse than anything I've heard of happening in the States.
