theaceofclubzsays...I'd like to nationalize my debt...
quantumushroomsays...Liberals want the nationalization of everything, not just criminal bailouts.
If the Obamessiah had done this it would be made to look like a wise decision.
A hypocritical or just plain-wrong-conservative is still not a liberal/socialist.

By association with their conservative history ?
Actions speak far louder than words QM.
Liberalism is not socialism, every party has its fringe loonies, it just seems the rights loonies are in power atm.
Im all for a conservative to run the country, or a liberal, provided they arnt fringe left/right. The republicans in power atm have lost their way, fiscal conservative used to mean something to them, not building an empire used to mean something to them, smaller and less complex government used to mean something to them, peoples liberties used to mean something to them....what happened to all that?

I don't see a dime's difference between American liberals and Euro-socialists. If you can point out a few examples of how they might radically differ, that would be swell.

Real conservatives' values don't waver, and most see these bailouts as an abomination. Even if a majority approved, sooner or later a centralized government/economy always fails.
There's a much larger difference between conservatives failing to be conservative and liberals doing what they do best: raising taxes.
The problem with labeling anything 'fringe' is yesterday's normal is today's fringe and vice versa.
rougysays..."They own the profit, you own the debt."
That sums it all up perfectly.

That's not what we want you lying piece of shit and you know it.

Totally agree. The Overton window moves around all the time, and for the last 2-3 decades, liberals haven't been systematically trying to push it in any direction.
That's changed.
Thanks for showing us how to do it, by the way.

Europeans have a much higher standard of living than the rest of the world, you would be so lucky if Obama mirrored their policies. Its a shame hes more like bush than I think anyone here would like, when you compare him to "Euro Socialists".
All you gotta do is check their infant mortality rates, GDP, health care costs, transport costs, literacy and numeracy rates, science rates, school achievement rates, murder rates etc. and you'll quickly realise that the Europeans (particularly those in the nordic area) have struck an almost perfect political balance of conservatism and liberalism.
They are so far ahead of the rest of the world in pretty much everything, its a shame other first-world nations dont attempt to mimic their policies.
