'The Wonders Down Under' 80s Ad for Australia ft. Paul Hogan

This 1984 advert - 'The Wonders Down Under' - feautures the legendary Paul Hogan. Hogan, riding on the success of Crocodile Dundee, is promoting Australia to the USA to get Americans to go on holiday to Australia. In the advert Hogan uses the line "I'll slip an extra shrimp on the barbie for ya". This advert is where the famous expression "throw a shrimp on the barbie" comes from. American tourists have been overusing it ever since!

Noone says "shrimp" here, that's obviously tailored for the American audience. Silly, since he's holding it in his hand, you'd think they would have trusted that the audience would understand "prawn" from the context.
