Redsays...At 1:28 there is 2 quotes put together. The first come from an article entitled "Forced Emigration" of 1853 (http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1853/03/04.htm). The second one is from an article by Diane Paul who "rephrase" an Engels article "The Magyars Struggle" from 1848 (also translated Hungary and Panslavism (communist bashing translation)) (http://www2.cddc.vt.edu/marxists/archive/marx/works/1849/01/13.htm).
I think Marx & Engels works must be considered as a whole. For instance about Poland, while you may find a quote questioning Poland existence you'll find plenty defending it (just do a search for yourself at the marxist internet archive : http://www.marxists.org/). I may comment more thoroughly as I continue my research. I welcome your comments on what I've already put forward.
Farhad2000says...I find this argument weak, because mostly I believe a direct comparison between these systems of control is impossible, because both Stalin and Hitler sought only one objective absolute dictatorial power they weren't making any treaties on the theory of socialism or communism as such.
Marx being racist is not surprising to me at all considering the time frame he was writing in, I mean racism was widely accepted at those times anyway.
EDDsays...Nice to see some of my native tongue on the Sift even though this material is somewhat controversial.
The documentary's called "The Soviet Story" (obviously) and it further exposes some of the atrocities of Stalin's regime and links it with Nazism, mostly ideologically, yet also by showing some documents on acts of cooperation between the two sides. All that got a lot of Kremlin-brain-washed youth's panties in a real tight bunch, as there's a real problem with some Russians acknowledging some of the war crimes of Soviet Union (a nation-wide poll recently placed Stalin as the greatest Russian that ever lived). So they hanged and burned a doll that was supposedly that of the film's director in front of the Latvian embassy in Moscow. It would be funny if historical misinterpretation via government propaganda and lies would not still be more than just widespread in today's Russia

Redsays...Need to add up that even the english translation of Engels text from the Marxist Internet Archive is flawed. Here's the original german:
"Alle andern großen und kleinen Stämme und Völker haben zunächst die Mission, im revolutionären Weltsturm unterzugehen."
that could be best translate by
"All other tribes and peoples small and large are fated to enter the revolutionary turmoil"
this compare to
"All the other large and small nationalities and peoples are destined to perish(?) before long in the revolutionary world storm" from the Marxist Internet Archive
and this
"The chief mission of all the other races and peoples -large and small- is to perish(?) in the revolutionary holocaust(!???)" from "The Russian Menace to Europe" Paul W. Blackstock, Berthold Frank Hoselitz, translation used by Diane Paul

I'm afraid you're wrong about the translation - here's the google translation of that quote:
"All the other large and small tribes and peoples have the first mission to perish in the revolutionary world storm."
and here's the definition of the verb "zu untergehen" - compare the original German title of the movie The Downfall: "Der Untergang"
Sorry to harp on, but optimistic mistranslation of Marx' works isn't something the world needs

Sorry to harp on, but your lack of proficiency in the German language isn't something the world needs either. "Untergehen" can be, in some instances, translated as "perish" but only in the sense of material/conceptual destruction over a period of time. For example, you can say that a culture has perished or a now-ruined city comes from a civilization that has perished. I.e.: "untergehen" is figurative and much more soft than perish. In fact, the primary meaning is "to sink". Compare untergehen and perish in the Pons dictionary. Also remember that the film "Der Untergang" is translated as "Downfall" and not "Holocaust" or "Perish" or whatever.
A more literal translation is this: "All other tribes and peoples, large and small, have from their inception this Mission, to sink in the revolutionary global storm." It simply means that all cultural differences between men and women over the world will be erased when the proletarian revolution takes effect globally. They thought once a critical mass of workers got together, the proletarian revolution would suddenly take the world by storm and bring equality/liberty/autonomy, hence the metaphor here of cultures going down the drain in favor of the "dictatorship of the proletariat".
