longdesays...Just because someone want to ban it, doesn't make it good. A couple of yawners on the list.
CreamKsays...Stupid video, the subject is important.. Would've been a great idea of having a captions of book name and author instead of only their coverart, which in some cases are obscure.. Also the use of music, could be a promotion trick.
Boise_Libsays...Thanks @Barseps
I didn't know that "Nickel and Dimed" was under attack by Right Wing Xtian fundies.
Anyone who hasn't read that should. A great factual account of a what it's like to try and get by on a minimum wage job.

schlubsays...What kind of video is this? How about some explanation as to why some of the books are banned instead of just flashing their covers at the viewer.. am I supposed to write down all of the titles and find out on my own why and where they are banned?

They're not banned. The list (for 2010, actually): http://www.ala.org/ala/issuesadvocacy/banned/frequentlychallenged/21stcenturychallenged/2010/index.cfm
is of books most often challenged. From the site: "A challenge is defined as a formal, written complaint, filed with a library or school requesting that materials be removed because of content or appropriateness. "
So basically these are books some people complained about and wanted taken off the library shelves. Also from ala.org: "...most challenges are unsuccessful and most materials are retained in the school curriculum or library collection."
siftbotsays...Moving this video to Barseps's personal queue. It failed to receive enough votes to get sifted up to the front page within 2 days.
xxovercastxxsays...This made me think of a question which I will now pose to Videosift:
Is it acceptable for a public school to have the Bible, the Qur'an, the Bhagavad Gita, etc available in the library? I'll keep my answer to myself for now.
