So many of the monsters are made by us. Our own weapons turned against us. The pain and suffering of the survivors is overwhelming. This has happened in Iraq a thousand times over since then, but that doesn't seem to matter to many people. I think that's what disgusts me most.

Was he a true sociopath? Through training and upbringing? Possible. Was he a fool? Most certainly. Absorbed in his own reality, his purposeful hermetical existence perpetuated his reality with supportive tribal influence of extreme surrealistic stupidity.

That is so heartbreaking... i couldn't even finish watching... Find i have this overwhelming hatred that just bubbles up hearing his voice...

Just wish horrible horrible things to him... but that accomplishes nothing and changes nothing and for the matter isn't me... so i think i'll leave this one unwatched... Upvote for those with perhaps more... fortitude.

What about the bombs that were found inside the building? They didn't even cover that did they? How did he get those in there? I recall news coverage on this for a couple of hours that day. Story incomplete.

Great post. the the only thing I didn't like was the notion that gun shows are anti government gatherings where crazy people go to stockpile weapons. It's a business, they are pawn shop owners, looking to sell their merchendise for a better price, not crazy militia men.

I was nine years old at the time, living about seven miles away as the crow flies. Shook the windows of my home. I had no idea what had happened until my mom turned on the TV.

I spent a nail-biting twenty minutes waiting for word from my father. He was working a couple miles away at the state capitol, and I knew he had to interface with Federal authorities from time to time. He was just fine, but the window in his office had been blown out--fortunately, he'd been in the parking lot at the time.

The following weeks were a bit harrowing. The newspapers were filled with horrible images of the destruction, full color pictures of injured people being wheeled to ambulances, and the text all telling the stories of those who were trapped for days before being pulled out of the rubble. My young brain was horrified that this was all happening so close to me.

The Murrah Building bombing is still a big deal in OKC. The local NPR station ran a special on the topic on the anniversary. I have to say, I nearly cried.

I'm skeptical.

Never once was McVeigh allowed to speak for himself. I never once heard his voice or saw him speaking the entire time he was being held and tried. Not once.

So why do we get the tapes now?

The more I look at it, the more McVeigh looks like a patsy of the Oswald variety.

On September 28, 2009, Jesse Trentadue, a Salt Lake City attorney, released security tapes that he obtained from the FBI through the Freedom of Information Act that show the Murrah building before and after the blast from four security cameras. The tapes are blank at points before 9:02 am, the time of detonation. Trentadue said that the government's explanation for the missing footage is that the tape was being replaced at the time.
