The Last Aryans In Paraguay

Interesting, but kinda disappointing. I'm not sure those two old men had anything to do with new germania other than just being born there, the host is kinda an asshole and I'm not sure there was much in actual content there other than a bit of hearsay... Still, quite interesting to think about.

Back in high school, I dated a chick who's family was "Argentinian" and yet they all spoke really fluent German to each other... I always suspected ties to Nazi Germany, but couldn't really find a good way to approach the subject head-on. All I knew was that her mom HATED me. I'm from a Jewish family, though I never practiced, I definitely have a Semitic look to me. Man that woman was on my case all the time...

But yeah, getting back to the video, I just can't help to feel sorry for those two old hermits. That one scene where the guy just kind of dismissively waves his hand at them, it's kinda ugly. It's not like these two are living in some sort of Aryan shrine with pictures of Hitler like he's Kim Jong Il or nazi flags all over the place. There wasn't anything in the video to really tell me much about them other than what seemed more like urban legends about the two old men that live up the hill.

I think back to our neighborhood and there was this old lady who lived in a house up the road who didn't socialize much and her lawn was completely overgrown. There were all sorts of stories about her being a witch and whatnot. I'm fairly certain she was just an old woman in retrospect and it very much reminds me of the tone and reliability of what is shown in the video.

Even if there is some tie to the nazis that fled during ww2, again, I doubt these guys were anything but kids at the time and it seems unlikely they had much to do with the war other than being born into it.

Edit: so I just watched it a second time and I really don't like the narrator/host. He's a real dick. I just feel that his "investigation" was somewhat half-assed at best and it was really unclear to me how he made the connection between these two old men and new germania. Anyone know where this is from, what program this is?

Yeah... after looking over that Vice Magazine site, it's pretty clear that it isn't an example of high journalism, but just internet based meh journalism. Puts it into perspective. Still, it is a very interesting concept. Would be quite neat to see a real investigation into it.
