8406says...So sad and so frightening. With something like 4x the population of the US and a drive to at least equal the US in wealth, China is an amazing country going through unbelievable growth. But the amount of environmental damage that the people are willing to accept boggles the mind. I can understand how they might not be worried about carbon emissions, but the garbage and other toxins have an immediate effect on the quality of life. I wonder how bad it will get before the people demand a change in the way things are done.
legacy0100says...Same argument's been discussed back when Brazil was wanted to cut down its forests and modernize its nation.
I remember Brazilians saying that Westerners cut their trees first and modernized, and they don't have any rights to stop other nations from improving their infrastructure.
