NicoleBeeIt looks like a simple morphing between frames, with some vague control points thrown in to give the fading some motion.. I have an ancient piece of software from 1995 that could do this, although not as slickly and artifact free.
But the effect is certainly used neatly!
maatcit would also have been nice to have it surface and dive into the tracks like a whale.
