Small town values: Nepotism, cronyism, and bigotry. There. I said it. It goes on in my home town (population 13,000, 20,000 if you include the neighboring townships), and it probably goes on in yours.

Yeah, small town values aren't what they're cracked up to be. Lot's of shallow-mindedness, great fear of anything that doesn't originate from the small town, old families, usually big land-owners, ruling the roost, calling the shots, treated like minor nobility.

Small town values are pretty backward overall.

insular and provincial, the opposite of cosmopolitan.
