The Calvin and Hobbes Symphony

Actually I admire him for not selling out. It keeps the strip in it's purest state. The second you sell rights, it becomes someone else's project and they always think they have a better idea to do with your creation, which 99% of the time doesn't work. Movie sequels (and now, movie remakes)....need I say more?

absolutely LOVE calvin & hobbes!!!!!!!!! i could read those comics for hours at a time ... i, too, admire that he never sold his rights ... he maintained the integrity of both calvin & hobbes by doing so! i mean ... c'mon ... look what happened to ren & stimpy when john k sold out ... they were never the same again. *sad really*

Looks like some confusion going on Firefly said "license" NOT "sell" any rights to the characters. Licensing would have allowed for him to maintain full creative control but made millions on merchandising and movie or television projects.
