bareboards2says...Interesting first post! I found myself thinking "but but but..." a lot -- doesn't it take very poor people to pick trash?
I have loads of angry conservative relatives who are disdainful of our welfare system -- they would be happier if the welfare system went away and a poor enough class of people was created who would do this work to survive.
I'm not showing them this vid....
Welcome to the sift!
kymbossays...Interesting vid, but I think you'll find those people are willing to do those tasks because of a lack of alternatives. They weren't giving up jobs as doctors and lawyers to pick through garbage as a profession, for chrissakes.
And what's wrong with wanting to be saparated from our waste? Of course we don't want to be living in filth.
You've got some interesting vids, @aurens. Thanks.
aurenssays...I think you're probably right—though the same could be said of any shitty job, couldn't it? (And there are *lots* of shitty jobs out there.)
It makes me wonder how long it'll be before companies start buying up landfills in America (on the cheap) to turn a profit on whatever they might salvage. I think it'll definitely happen at some point, probably when we realize we've been throwing away some commodity that's less renewable (and more valuable) than we'd thought.
And thank you!>> ^kymbos:
