Superman Doomsday

Superman Doomsday is byfar the most violent comic book movie I have ever seen... You almost see a death sequence every 5-10 minutes...

Anyway... Here is one example of a death sequence from the movie, coming from the one person you would never expect to see someone kill...

Ok - will someone explain this? There is no way Superman would allow a person to fall to their death no matter how odious. It's just not in him.

So, is this some sort of dream sequence, is Supes under someone else's control or is this a deceptive edit? I refuse to believe that what I saw is for "real".
