Kreegathsays...The game's gonna spark a few weeks of euforia amongst the gaming community, followed by an overpowering sense of disillusion when the fact that it's not as good as its predecessor sinks in into the minds of even the most diehard SC-religious fanboys. This'll cause more flamewars and resentment in the gaming community than anything else this decade.
This is no more the end station of the RTS train than Red Alert 2 in its day. The graphics are good though
wazantsays...I used to think that people taking flash photos of fireworks were the dumbest people on earth--until I saw this video, which features people taking flash photos of a movie. It's like trying to pour yourself a beer at the bottom of a swimming pool.
EDDsays...Thing is, Kreegath, you're probably right, but being the SC-fanboy that I am, I'll never, NEVER EVER acknowledge this, not even after the game goes gold. That would be blasphemy!!
lertadsays...I think Blizzard has a pretty trustworthy track record - the only reasons this would not be as good as the first one is because the first Starcraft was impossibly good.
I still expect this to redefine the genre as Blizzard's done with every major computing release so far.
therealblankmansays...Wazant: I'll trump that with the following observation. In Vancouver we have a Steam operated clock in our historic disctrict of Gastown (it's not really steam operated, but that's beside the point). The clock is completely inaccurate, but even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
On the quarter-hour the clock whistles. People wait until it whistles before taking their flash photos. Think about it- people take flash photographs of SOUND!
HaricotVertsays...That's a nasty speech impediment Kerrigan's developed...
enemycombatantsays...Blizzard's cinematics are usually so great that this one just came across as generic. It's nice to hear that Sigourney Weaver managed to find more voice over work after trying to ruin Planet Earth.
omnistegansays...Is it just me or are there some recycled textures/models from WoW in there (specifically silithis crystals). Seems like a lazy move on the part of the usually very good cinematic team at blizzard.
