Toronto gets lampooned in this mockumentary promo on the Mercer Report, creation of Rick Mercer who plays the scruffy man who has to get his daughter, somehow, to Montessori class.
Everyone loves to hate the country's capital, largest or most important cities. Paris, NYC, Washington, London, Toronto - and I presume Tokyo too, but I've never asked a Japanese person from the countryside if it's true in Asia too.
I'm glad the city's able to make fun of itself this way, but in all seriousness, I had no more than 2 or 3 snow days in my entire LIFE living in Toronto, whereas people in the country and in smaller towns have missed days and weeks. This is both due to the fact that Toronto lies outside the "snow belt" that surrounds the city partly thanks to the 'buffer' effect from our position on the north side of Lake Ontario, and because we live in a more compact area, so you can usually trudge through the snow to school or work by public transit if you're unable to drive there.
All bets are off for people living in the suburban ring of cities around downtown of course, but I'm quite proud of our ability to withstand the treacherous snowflake.
