The movie was OK, but the soundtrack was amazing. If you like this kind of music, check out Gillian Welch, she's on a lot of the soundtrack but has a few great albums of her own.

That's a good album: Time: (The Revelator) I was listening to that today too. After I made my first comment, it made me want to go listen to it.

This movie and soundtrack is special to my family because it reminds us so much of my dad that died a couple of years ago. Maybe it's why my kids like the movie so much because they think it's where there "Paw Paw" came from.

This post depression era/ old country south is the culture from which my dad was raised. He played guitar and sang old country on the local radio station after school when he was a teenager.
I remember him playing some of these songs around the house when I was kid. He was especially funny at "He's in the Jailhouse Now" and "You Are My Sunshine". He'd always ham it up to get a rise out of my mom who always pretended his singing annoyed her. What an act.

Since dad passed, my children have grown a fondness for old time country and bluegrass music.
